  • TCSD is an "A" Rated District Once Again!

The Tishomingo County School District has earned an "A" rating once again under Mississippi's public school accountability system. This is the 5th consecutive year the district has earned an "A" rating. It earned its first "A" rating in the 2018-2019 school year. Mississippi's schools and districts are graded on an A-F scale. The grades are part of the state's accountability system, which helps teachers, school leaders, parents and communities know how well local schools and districts are serving students. • Schools asked to share Broadband Connectivity, Internet Speed Test surveys with families

The Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi (BEAM) is asking schools to share two important surveys with families. Both surveys can be found on the BEAM Homepage: Welcome to the Mississippi Broadband Office! (broadbandms.com).

    1. Internet Speed Test: The “Test your Internet” survey will help BEAM develop accurate maps of internet availability to identify where help is needed most.
    2. Broadband Connectivity Survey: This brief survey asks families about their internet connection to help BEAM understand barriers to connecting families.

The results of these surveys will help BEAM target state and federal resources to ensure that all families in Mississippi have access to a reliable internet connection.

In addition, we encourage you to learn more about the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program that provides internet and laptop discounts to eligible recipients.

Before the pandemic, the state of Mississippi planned to release SEL standards for districts to implement. Within the past year, the students have experienced a pandemic, economic situations at home, and racial tensions. Although the state has provided standards to districts, it is the responsibility of each district to decide how this will be implemented. TCSD School Board Approves Free Athletic Pass for Veterans

On Monday night, November 8, the TCSD Board approved a pass for veterans (current and past) for FREE entry into any MHSAA-sanctioned athletic event or activity. A veteran will need to present proof of military service upon application. Any interested veteran can complete the application at any school in the district and will be issued a card. Again, this is at no cost for the veteran. I appreciate our board's desire to give back to those who have sacrificed so much for us. Please share this information with any veteran you know!
